Authentic French Crêpes and Artisanal Gelato at Crêpe Glazik

“What sets us apart? We are from Bretagne, France. The crêpes capital of the world.” Chef Neven Charpentier

Crêpe Glazik (formerly known as Kuya Crêpes) is a little gem cafe that offers a taste of authentic French crêpes and artisanal gelato in Salcedo village, Makati.

Founded by a French and Filipino couple, Crêpe Glazik is a business success story that started during the pandemic when the couple decided to donate crêpes to hospitals in April of 2020. Following their donations, the doctors requested to order crêpes to send to their loved ones and in the span of a few weeks the couple was already selling thousands of crêpes from home.

Freshly opened last October 2021, Crêpe Glazik brings the true taste from Brittany (aka Bretagne) in France, which is considered as the worldwide capital of this French specialty.

“Crêpes are popular all over the world but in France, and specially in Britanny, it's a real food culture and tradition” Chef Neven Charpentier

Originally from Bretagne, Chef Neven Charpentier pays tribute to his regional heritage by only using traditional equipment and carefully selected ingredients.

This includes imported buckwheat flour from France to make their delicious savory crêpes, commonly called "galette de sarrasin" in French, and also local produce, such as artisanal sausages, raw honey from Mindanao and coconut jam to mention just a few.

Traditionally, Chef Neven explains that buckwheat flour is used for savory and wheat flour for dessert crêpes. He also adds that authentic crêpes can be made on different ways depending on the city in Brittany. Since Chef Neven is from the Glazik area, he follows his roots by making his crêpes bigger and crispier than in other parts of the region.

“For our menu, we wanted to stay simple, traditional and focus on quality” Chef Neven Charpentier

Chef Neven Charpentier personally developed his recipes to balance and enhance the character of the ingredients. For his menu, he wanted his clientele to have the choice between true traditional crêpes (ham, egg and cheese for savory or butter and sugar for sweet... ), signature (smoked salmon for savory or lemon pie for sweet...), and the Filipino touch (mango or ube jam...).

A great addition to his menu is his homemade artisanal gelato made with super premium ingredients. Crêpe Glazik now has 14 different gelato flavors all homemade with natural ingredients, without preservatives, colorant and flavorings. For this, Chef Neven follows the Italian standards and uses a machine imported from Bologna.

Quimper (Artisanal Sausage, Mushroom Sauce, Fresh Egg, Emmental Cheese)

For our visit, we enjoyed two of their savory crêpes: Quimper (Artisanal Sausage, Mushroom Sauce, Fresh Egg, Emmental Cheese) and Morlaix (Swiss Raclette Cheese, Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Baked Potatoes). To complement the crêpes, the Chef recommended his homemade sauces - spicy and blue cheese - and they did not disappoint. Highly recommended.

For dessert, we had the traditional Crêpe Suzette (Orange Butter) and Caramel Breton (Salted Caramel) to end the meal with a fine sweet touch. The great thing with the sweet crêpes is that they come with a scope of their exquisite homemade gelato so we could also enjoy a taste of premium Tahitian vanilla and dark chocolate to satisfy our sweet tooth.

Personally, we are excited to visit Crêpe Glazik again in the near future not only for their delicious crêpes but also for a selection of authentic French ciders to be offered soon, a great pairing which elevates further the crêpe experience "like in Bretagne".

Crêpe Glazik (Cambridge Centre Building, 108 Tordesillas, Makati) is open every day for lunch and dinner. For further information you may contact them directly via phone 0917 163 1130 or email glazikcorp@gmail.com.
